Sound: parallel and contrapuntal learner response

1) Type up your feedback from your teacher.
Meets the brief impressively, good choice of song and the pace of the editing is perfectly in time with the beat. Both in selection of images and technical construction this is strong. The contrapuntal section is suitably uncomfortable to watch which shows it has impact. Holdding the final image for longer, How deliberate was this? I thought it worked really well.

2) Type up your feedback from fellow students - you can summarise key points if several students give you similar feedback.

Feedback from fellow students similarly included the points above and some examples are:

-Good use of contrapuntal sound/parallel sound, Good beat drop, some images are on screen for too long. Add less still images.

3) Now reflect on your work and write your own evaluation of your video. Write a 'What went well' (WWW) paragraph and a paragraph for 'Even Better If' (EBI) underneath the rest of your feedback.

I believe that my video suited the brief perfectly the use of audio perfectly matched the parallel images whereas it completely contrasted the contrapuntal images which helped to create an uncomfortable environment which was the aim of the project however my video could have been improved in many aspects such as possibly chosing a song with a higher tempo as this would allow for more images to be displayed, another element which should be looked at is the use of images as there are no moving images and overtime this causes the video to become dull for the audience.

4) Learner response: compare your own video against your evaluation of the top three videos in the class. Whose did you think was best and why? How could you have improved your own video?

I believe that my video was amongst the top three however the strongest video in my opinion is Arkins as he was able to demonstrate his editing skills along side with his ability to match pictures to audio. He used both images and video clips where as I only used pictures which is a setback on my behalf. My editing skills could also be more refined. Moreover, I believe Arkins was the best because he was able to create an uncomfortable sensation while watching his video which is a positive effect as it reveals that he understood the task well.

5) Finally, what have you learned about the importance of sound to film and TV through this week's work?

Throughout the week I have learnt that sound is a significant backbone in film and Tv as it can be used to generate many effects and feelings in the audience and it can also be used to help encapsulate ideas which a director wants the audience to take note of.
