Sound: parallel and contrapuntal learner response

1) Type up your feedback from your teacher. Meets the brief impressively, good choice of song and the pace of the editing is perfectly in time with the beat. Both in selection of images and technical construction this is strong. The contrapuntal section is suitably uncomfortable to watch which shows it has impact. Holdding the final image for longer, How deliberate was this? I thought it worked really well. 2) Type up your feedback from fellow students - you can summarise key points if several students give you similar feedback.   Feedback from fellow students similarly included the points above and some examples are: -Good use of contrapuntal sound/parallel sound, Good beat drop, some images are on screen for too long. Add less still images. 3) Now reflect on your work and write your own evaluation of your video. Write a 'What went well' (WWW) paragraph and a paragraph for 'Even Better If' (EBI) underneath the rest of your feedback.  I believe that my video suited

Sound analysis

The clip below is from dumber and dumber. In the clip below the  diegetic  sound comes from the characters and their dialogue. It can also be seen through the two main characters repeated use of annoying phrases and noises.  Diegetic  audio being audio only the characters in the scene can hear. The  sound bridge  can be seen when the car stops to pick other people up and the guitar starts playing a few seconds before the camera shifts to reveal the people in the back of the car singing along to the song. The music is a bizarre focal point because it is not instrumental or digital but instead it is created by the two main characters as they sing along in harmony. The dialogue can be used to represent the two main characters personalities and their relationship as through the harmonic singing and constant noises which match each others it becomes evident that they are close friends. The music that the characters make is parallel because it perfectly represents their mental state and th

Blog feedback and learner response

WWW: You’ve made an absolutely brilliant start to A Level Media on the coursework side – well done! Your blog is fully up to date and your reflection on the mise-en-scene recreation is exactly what I want to see in an LR task. Keep up the good work! EBI: Your analytical work so far shows a good level of detail which is so important at A Level. However, it is also important to focus on written English so think about how you organise your writing (sentences, paragraphs etc.) Reflect on your first month of Film & TV Language, What aspect of Film & TV language have you most enjoyed studying? Personally misc-en-scene has been a strong favourite of mine because now I have gained the ability to properly analyse and understand what happens in a scene and all the little elements which join up to create the main message behind a scene. What is your strongest piece of work so far?  The misc-en-scene recreation has been my strongest as I believe my attention to detail and my abi

Lighting blog task

Identify examples of high and low-key lighting. Say which depict top , back or under lighting . What effects are created by the lighting in each image?  The image above uses high-key lighting as most of her face is visible and there are minimal amounts of high contrasting elements/shadows. The majority of the shot depicts back lighting as half of her face is brightly lit suggesting there are lighting elements to her side. An ominous vibe is created as half of her face is lit which could suggest two different personalities to her character.  The image above is an example of low-key lighting as there is a lot of contrast, this is also an example of top lighting as her face is brightly lit which could be an attempt to represent and emphas ise her looks. An element of tension is created as she appears to be looking up at something with a bit of confusion. The lighting further helps support this idea as the background is dark and dimly lit suggesting there may be something out there.  The
