 Clip of choice.

At the very beginning tension is created as the pace switches from slow to fast, this is also emphasised  through the main character (Peter Parker) turning around as he senses imminent danger. This is an example of a eye line match as in the next shot it is revealed that he is looking towards the city. The shot then switches to a wide crane/aerial shot to reveal the setting and its vastness; Then a sharp switch to a low angle wide shot of the main antagonist (Electro). Through this many post-production visual effects are applied such as blurriness and slurred camera movement which all help to reveal the state of Electro as he is currently confused and nauseated. This edit has been done on purpose to help put the viewer inside his mind and to help one experience his perplexed state of mind. Then the camera switches over to the protagonist and then pans over to his partner slowly and then pans back to reveal that he has disappeared, this is done on purpose to reveal to the audience that he may be heading towards the setting shown previously by the aerial shot. The combined use of aerial shots and after effects help to establish the setting and possible narratives.

In the second part of the clip character development is heavily enforced, this can be seen by the use of placing the focus of the camera in Electros eyes which makes the viewers feel like they are Electro. Moreover, a straight cut is used through a crane shot which is used to quicken up the pace before switching back to first person view. The fast pace helps to develop the character of Electro by revealing that he is distraught but curious and naive as he instinctively heads towards a surge of electricity beneath the floor. Furthermore, by placing the camera in the eye sight of Electro his powers are revealed and his ability to harness, control and perceive electricity. The editing used has left behind very fast paced cuts which creates suspense and tension and pace which are heavily developed in the next few parts of the clip in many instances for example a varied amount of straight cuts to the policemen warning and moving people out of the way. This creates sustained tension as the viewers are aware that something is wrong but do not know what is the possible cause of danger. This tension is suddenly broken through a jump cut when the policeman desperately urges people to move out of the way, this places Electro in focus revealing him to be the potential source of danger. This idea is further demonstrated through the slow tilt of the camera which reveals Electro's face, this combined with the policemans reaction labels Electro as dangerous and a villain and makes us as the viewers anxious because tension is heavily built here. The combined use of cuts and use of different perspectives help to create heavy sustained tension and it also helps to develop the character of Electro and his powers. In addition, the use of wide shots when Electro throws a truck around like its nothing not only heightens his strength but the way the crowd walks back in terror firmly establish Electro as the antagonist whether he plans on being one or not.

Towards the end Spiderman the main protagonist is revealed through a breathtaking tension relief, this is done by switching the camera view and placing it behind the policeman running. Spiderman then catches the car which was hurled by Electro saving the policeman. By zooming in onto Spiderman holding the car that would have crushed and killed innocent people demonstrates his feats of strength are shown which the viewers identify as traits of a saviour and a hero. Moreover, through the sustained image of spiderman on screen holding the car all the attention is brought onto him highlighting his importance and hightens his glory in the moment which is interesting because a sharp contrast is also created through this effect as previously all the viewers have known is Electro and his power discoveries/intrusive thoughts kicking in but now the focus has completely shifted along with the atmosphere easing up from the heavy tension that was built in the beginning.
