editing video feedback learner response

1) Type up your feedback/comments from your teacher.

A solid video that meets the very nice narrative that engages the audience match on action is used in places but also opportunities to use it in more places. Conversation is handled well timing is good shot reverse shot is spot-on and framing of over. The shoulder. Shots is good, refreshing use of angle deliberate? Flashback communicated okay but perhaps as a cutaway would have worked better.
2) Type up your feedback from fellow students.

180°  rule done perfectly match on action and sort of reverse shot done well I liked the flashback scene. Unique good use of props and costumes. The shot was also good in term of angles.

3) Now reflect on your video. Did you meet the brief and successfully include the three key editing aspects we have learned?

I believe that I met the brief perfectly as I demonstrated my ability to use match on and shot reverse shot while not breaking the 180 degree rule, I also believe that this video was much better in terms of video and audio quality compared to previous works however my timing could be slightly better.

4) What were the strengths and weaknesses of your final film? Write a detailed analysis picking out specific shots, edits and any other aspect of film language you think is relevant.

I believe that a strength of my film was my ability to reproduce seamless match cuts while delivering a clean shot reverse shot however one weakness would be my timing for one of the match cuts. Another weakness would be a lack of music during the film to create feelings or an atmosphere.

5) Learner response: what aspect of editing did you find most difficult? What have you learned from this process that will help you when you start the actual coursework later this year?

The most challenging aspect would be match cuts as sometimes it comes down to a difference of a few frames to create a seamless transition. I have learned that camera quality, audio quality and timing are the three most important aspects because without timing then continuity won't be in effect and if the audio quality is bad then the video becomes unwatchable.
